In the Christian Calendar Advent, the four Sundays before Christmas, marks the beginning of the church year. It is a time of expectation and anticipation, as we remember the longing of the Israelites for a Messiah. It is a time of preparation for Christmas and the arrival of the Christ child. The long awaited coming of the Messiah is certainly something to sing about. Our theme this year for Advent, “Songs of the Season”, is a series of song-inspired sermons.
